i see nothing wrong with gigabyte's design. a sliding screen does nothing but enlarge the occupied area, which is not good at all. plus the display, if unable to fold a bit towards the eyes, would suffer from the sunlight unless the user bends forward. but this goes against a confortable typing.
in my opinion the best combo would be gigabyte's design with actual eee's battery autonomy. the dvd drive will obviously remain, and my best hopes are that it will be equipped wuth a dual core atom (therefore maybe less lasting on a continuous run, but sure better then ather brands). and that screen better flip, i has a 12 inch fujitsu-siemens once and the touch-screen was hardly usable because it felt uncomfortable to hold and use the stylus.
