Ubuntu Eee 8.04 Beta (Hardy Heron): My verdict.
After so much issues I encountered installing and configuring Ubuntu Eee on my Eee PC, I was finally able to make it work like complete OS. Compiz Fusion is also working but apparently, it crawls easily. I’m running it on my 630Mhz, 512MB Asus Eee PC.

Ubuntu Eee: Screen and Graphics, the root of all evil.
Truly is. John Ramvi once mentioned the title on a comment to my previous post. It was indeed. I just finished installing Ubuntu Eee for the 6th time. And this time, I did not even think of opening the Screen and Graphics.
With my previous installations, I always had to fix the screen resolution after the next restart. Why? Because the first time the system boot up, I used to take a look at the Screen and Graphics to check the available resolutions, then back up the xorg.conf. Just in case I might need it. Then the next boot, I always see a warning dialog box saying something like “Ubuntu Eee is running at a very low resolution.”

Ubuntu Eee Update: Wifi fixed, Screen resolution screwed.
Looks like I fixed the wifi at last. I was able to download a more updated version of madwifi when I went to the repo. So essentially, there’s only one simple change with the original steps.
sudo apt-get install build-essential
wget ‘http://snapshots.madwifi.org/special/madwifi-nr-r3366+ar5007.tar.gz‘
tar zxvf madwifi-ng-r2756+ar5007.tar.gz
cd madwifi-nr-r3366+ar5007
make clean
make
sudo make install
reboot

Ubuntu Eee 8.04: Still no Wi-Fi

I was able to install Ubuntu Eee 8.04 beta successfully but since then, I have not configured the wifi properly. I have followed the instructions on the wiki, forum and justing gill, who is lucky enough to have his Ubuntu 8.04 perfect OOTB, but to no avail for me.
I was actually able to use the wifi even without applying the madwifi patch, but I had to turn it on from the BIOS before starting Ubuntu up. Or I have to leave the Wi-Fi
Hands-on Ubuntu Eee
Now, the coolest OS ever made for Asus Eee is on my hands. It’s the Ubuntu Eee. I have not installed it on my eee yet but I will in a while. In the meantime, I’ll try the Live mode.
