When it comes to style, I should give it to Sony. Of course it comes with a price, but if you’re the type who is not after the brand name, you will always find another netbook which looks exactly like the Sony Vaio P. This is actually not the first time the Sony Vaio P was cloned in China.

Thinnest, Lightest and Most Expensive. Descriptive words carefully picked by Laptopmag to describe the Sony Vaio X. The netbook sells for as low as $1,299 for the 64GB SSD model that only comes in black, and $1,499 for the other model model. One of the nice things Sony did is to include the extended battery on the price, aside from the standard battery pack which could only last up to 3 hours.

One of the things Laptopmag also highlighted is the battery endurance, which lasted for 9 hours 49 minutes with Wi-Fi on, GPS and 3G off. In a few, we can expect updates on the other tests as well.

For it’s lightness and thin form factor, the Sony Vaio X is certainly a looker. And surely is prettier/more handsome than you.

$999 Might not be right for Sony Vaio W

When we posted about the new netbook from Sony yesterday, we were a bit hesitant to include the start price of $499 dollars we learned from Yugatech, because it’s a bit high for the specs. And now we’re seeing that the start price could even get up to $999 according to Gizmodo. Wait a minute, what’s this?

The Sony Vaio W netbook packs Intel Atom N280, 160GB Hard Disk and 1GB RAM for the basic components and a 10.1 inches display with higher resolution of 1366 x 768. It also comes with stylish colors, but I think the specs is not enough to cost that amount. As we also understand, the netbook will only last up to 2 hrs per charge at standard power.

Then we hope this information wasn’t exactly right.

If you look at the Sony Vaio P from afar, you’ll hardly notice its difference from netbooks because of its shape and size. But according to Sony blog, “You Can’t Tell a Netbook by its Cover”.

Sony still continues to claim that their Vaio P is not a netbook, maybe because they think that netbooks like Asus Eee, MSI Wind, Acer Aspire One, Dell Mini, etc. are made with lower quality than their product. This may be true, but their reasoning just describes the Vaio P even closer to what they are trying to deny. They were claiming that they are of greater advantage when it comes to keyboard, backlit screen, CPU, wireless capabilities, GPS, Dual OS, and storage options. Now let’s see what’s Engadget’s thought about it.

The conclusion, Sony Vaio P is really not a netbook because of its very expensive price.

I don’t have nothing against Sony, I just want them to accept the fact that netbooks are just as useful as the P.
