Abe of Yugatech purchased an HP Mini 311 since most of his readers are still undecided whether to purchase a closer rival MSI Wind U210. He will be running a benchmark comparison in just a few and we will witness which one stands out in terms of performance. The two netbooks sport totally different specs, one with Intel Atom and the other with AMD Athlon.

The MSI Wind has 2GB RAM while the HP Mini only has 1GB, but let’s wait and see how it impacts the results. Worth noting as well are the graphics chipsets. MSI Wind has ATI Radeon, while the HP Mini has an NVIDIA Ion. The two netbooks also run on different operating systems, one with Vista and the other with XP, but let’s wait and see. HP Mini 5101 sells in the Philippines for Php 23,995

HP introduced the Mini 5101 which comes in suit and tie. It packs an Intel Atom N280, 2GB RAM and a choice between SSD and HDD. HP also offers the netbook with 10.1″ screen at 1024 x 600 resolution, and you may add a few bucks more to get a higher resolution 1366 x 768.

Yugatech is reporting that HP Mini 5101 is now selling in the Philippines via Asianic computer store for Php 23.995. The listed spec includes 1024 x 576 display and not the higher choices, but I’d take it with grains of salt.

HP Mini 311 ION-powered Netbook

First it gave a hint. Then it was leaked. And now HP officially announced the netbook is on as early as September 23rd. The netbook will initially ship with Windows XP and will eventually carry Windows 7 as well in October.

The HP Mini 311 is ION-powered, has an 11.6″ screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 and it has HDMI output. Of course it comes with pretty standard components such as 160GB HDD, 1GB RAM and a 6-cell battery that should give longer life per charge.

This netbook is priced at $399, making it the most affordable ION-powered netbook with 11.6″ display today.

The New HP Mini Vivienne Tam Edition Netbook

It’s another Technology Meets Fashion moment for Vivienne Tam and HP. Can I call it Fashion Meets Technology? I think it sounds better, what do you guys think? Anyway, at a Fashion Week in New York, HP unveiled the new Vivienne Tam Edition HP Mini with butterflies printed on the lid. It was beautiful.

Well, this is not the first time the designer and HP collaborated. If you could remember, HP also released Vivienne Tam edition netbook based on HP Mini 1000 last year. It got a pretty high price compared to standard version, but it looks like it sold out pretty well for they have another collaboration going on.

We got no idea yet on what’s sitting under the hood of this digital clutch, but according to Brad Linder, it could be based on the new HP Mini 110. It could also be a new model of HP Mini yet to be introduced, and if it’s true, it might also be the first time a netbook be introduced in a non-Electronics expo.

Netbooks continue to increase it’s market share as netbook manufacturers continuously innovates their current products. The latest news from HP is the new Mini 311 which was first hinted from a support document before it slowly revealed itself on the internet.

The new HP Mini 311 will carry an Intel Atom N270 and because it has wider chassis, it would also include 6-cell battery. Hard disk and memory will also be at standard 160GB and 1GB respectively. On the brighter side, based on some already posted specs, it will sport NVIDIA ION graphics too. This means that the graphics acceleration and video transcoding will be several times faster than some full-sized laptops and netbooks. It is also possible that this netbook will have Windows 7 version.

It has happened to me lots of times before, looking for files on my netbook which is actually not in there but on my home computer or the other way around. I’m sure you experienced it too, and one way we do about it is have a portable storage to copy files we need and use it on our netbooks or home desktops. HP Mini 5101 Netbook

HP is introducing the newest HP Mini 5101 to replace the HP Mini 2140. The new netbook packs Intel Atom N280, choice of SSD or HDD in different capacities, and supports up to 2GB memory. It also offers a 10.1″ screen in 1024 X 600 or 1366 X 768 resolutions. Another new feat is a 2.0 megapixel camera and the easy access to panel for RAM upgrade. Other specs such as the ports and wireless are pretty much standard.

The new design of the HP Mini 5101 targets the business consumers. It has a pretty aluminum casing, squared corners, chiclet style keyboard. Overall design is very interesting. I think it’s what I can call simple.

HP Mini 110 is the better version of the HP Mini 1000, which has a lot of drawbacks when it first came out. HP Mini 2140 receives Editors Choice Award from Notebooks.com

Notebooks.com is awarding the Editors Choice Award to HP Mini for having a couple of features that satisfies them.

The HP Mini 2140 is a younger brother of Mini 2133, which features an Intel Atom processor rather than VIA. Which is by the way a nice move by HP. The 2140 also lasts longer than 2133 when it comes to battery. A regular HP Mini 2140 comes 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD 5400 RPM, 10.1″ LED backlit display and of course an Intel Atom processor.

But the package is customizable and offers a lot of other options for you from disk real estate to its OS.

The Mini 2140 is coated by brushed aluminum metal which provides more protection from normal use damages like bumps and scrapes. And it also makes the netbook stands out from the crowd of netbooks design-wise. Its chiclet keyboard is also a bit different and more convenient to use compare to other netbooks. I’ve tried it myself before.
