3G/4G Dell netbooks from Sprint, available on Halloween

Probably most of you were expecting netbooks with built in 3G/4G and there’s no better moment to release them into the wild than around a national holiday. Business buyers will have the chance to preorder the Dell Mini 10 model on Halloween, while Dell Inspiron 11z will be available a little later, from already-in-the-4G-game communication service provider Sprint, says electronista.com.

The 2 netbooks can connect to 4G networks, EVDO or WiMAX. The advantages of having 4G on a powerful machine are amazing, from streaming to downloading really big files up to 10 times faster than 3G. It brings a lot of peace of mind to those working with big files and multimedia tools and are constantly online.

Starting with November 14^th, both Dell Mini 10 and Dell Inspiron 11z will be available for wider audiences. The two netbooks will probably catch on to other providers and we might see a lot of them around Christmas and New Year in special offers (and probably a lot as Cyber Monday 2010 deals). Sprint will practically give the Mini 10 for free if you sign a contract with them, while the more powerful Inspiron 11z will be available for about 150 dollars in the same conditions.

Dell Mini netbooks with 3G/4G available from Spint for great prices

If you put together 4G and a netbook, probably the first thing that comes to mind is streaming HD content. The Mini 10 gets a standard hardware lineup, with a 1.66 GHZ processor, 1GB of RAM and a 250GB HDD and most importantly has the Broadcom Crystal HD accelerator for some serious 1080p streaming. The Inspiron 11z walks in a more select crowd and will probably have better specs than the models available on the market now. It’s certain that it will have a Core i3 CPU and at least 2GB of RAM and we expect a suiting video card.

All in all, what’s important as that if you’re looking for a traveling mini laptop with instant Internet access on the fly, these two Dells are great options, especially if you consider how affordable they are when bought together with a Sprint data plan.

Dell Venue Pro (Lightning) unveiled

Dell’s up and coming smartphone got in the hands of the team at Endgadget, so here’s what we know until now about it. First, it might not be called Lighting, but Dell Venue Pro, but we might expect to hear both names over time in different marketing campaigns.

The Lightning seems to look (a lot) like The Thunder, the previous smartphone from Dell, at least in the handset department, while the overall build resembles an Iphone 3G/S. That’s not a bad thing and if the Lightning cam puzzle up all the good features from other phones, that’s fine with us. Dell’s latest wonder will run on a Snapdragon processor able to sustain all the apps and features advertised on the manufacturer’s website.

The display is a Gorilla Glass 4.1 inch capacitive touchscreen with three extra buttons, back, home and search, so thumb away, enthusiasts because the screen can take it. On the back of the phone there’s also a 5 megapixel camera with flash and on the top there’s a 3.5mm jack for headphones. The micro USB port is on the bottom.

Dell Lightning

The keyboard is what made the Engadget’s reviewer very happy and it seems that’s pretty much about right. It’s a slide-out QUERTY style keyboard, with the rubbery buttons firm enough to avoid mistypes, early damage and jiggly keys. The slider mechanism seems very robust, a feature in fact so rare amongst sliding phones.

This is not actually fresh news because Dell has since announced this edition last month. But the Nickelodeon Edition Dell Inspiron Mini looks fresh itself in it’s slimy green design. Basically, it shares the same specification with the Mini 10v, sporting Intel Atom CPU, 1024 x 600 resolution display in 10.1″ screen. And if you take a careful look, the only thing you will notice that sets this apart is the design.

This one’s definitely for the Nickelodeon heart in you.

Dell Latitude 2100 Philippines launch, still has no date

Dell Latitude 2100 was launched in some parts of the world last May 2009, and while there’s no definite date on when it is to be launched in the Philippines, an email to Abe of Yugatech tells that the Latitude 2100 Netbook will be here anytime soon.

Dell Latitude 2100 Netbook

The Latitude 2100 is a 10.1-incher netbook from Dell which is designed primarily for students. It features a built-in shoulder sling to easily carry the netbook without the use of a bag (though I don’t think anyone will find it helpful in the Philippines). The netbook also features a variety of storage options which ranges from 16GB SSD to 250GB hard disk. One thing which likely encourage more users is the touchscreen option aside from the regular output-only display.

128GB SSD Hack for Dell Mini 9

JKK has another crazy presentation for us to see on his collection of hack-videos. The latest I saw was this hack for Dell Mini 9, adding a larger SSD. And when I say larger, it’s larger in capacity and in size, physically. The hack, according to him, is easy. It only involves removing the some screws and scraping out some excessive bumps on metal casing that Dell left inside. So how he did it? Just watch and see for yourself.

I think the weirdest thing that happened thus far on the netbook category is what Dell has done. A 12″ screen for a ~~netbook~~ a ~~laptop~~ a lapnetbooktop?

Dell announced yesterday their new Dell Inspiron ~~not-~~Mini 12″. Under the hood are same specs like regular netbooks have. A 1.6Ghz Intel Atom processor, 1GB RAM, 60G or 80G HDD. So what separates it from other netbooks is it’s 12″ screen. It also weighs heavier than ordinary netbooks at 2.72 lbs.

I don’t write well-written comments and reviews and I don’t really get what Dell is trying to imply here. Maybe they’re not really lining it up with netbooks but with the MacBook Air? Maybe?

Dell UK releases Inspiron Mini 9 Linux version

When Dell released the Inspiron Mini 9 in UK, users have no other options than the XP version. Now, Dell have introduced a new flavor with Ubuntu 8.04, 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor, 1GB DDR2 533 Mhz RAM, 8GB SSD and 0.3 MP camera in the usual 8.9″ screen @ 1024×600 display.

But if you think it’s going to restore people’s love for Linux which is slowly dying, you might be wrong because all better options are on their Windows XP version. The XP version Dell Inspiron has greater storage capacity of 16GB, and better 1.3 MP camera, compared to the Linux version. This is very unusual while other manufacturers put larger SSD estate on their Linux versions. With a price difference of

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 officially Launched in Manila

Dell has started their netbook journey officially last night in Manila as they introduced the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 together with their Dell Studio Laptops and Dell Studio Hybrid in 8 colors. As expected on our previous report, its price is revealed at Php 24, 599 for Windows XP version, which is a bit expensive but still affordable. There’s no words on pricing for the Ubuntu version yet.

One thing that actually turned me netbook ignorant are the function keys [that I first thought were missing] that were placed across the middle of the keyboard sharing letters A to L, etc. Some keys like scroll lock is missing as well, but who uses it anyway? Good thing about lesser keys is that it save space for other keys for larger and easier access.

Just a refresher, the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 sports 1.6G Intel Atom, 8.9-inch screen at 1024 X 600, WiFi and Bluetooth, 1GB RAM and 16GB SSD. It can have more storage via box.net.

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 goes Head to Head with Asus Eee PC 900

For some of you who are in doubt about which is better between the 2 netbooks, here are some ideas that might be of help.

Performance wise, Dell Inspiron Mini 9 might outdo the Asus Eee PC 900. Inspiron sports 1.6Ghz Intel Atom while the Eee PC 900 uses 900Mhz Celeron. Since Atom consumes lesser power than Celeron, Inspiron has an advantage on this side as well.

In terms of Graphics, Inspiron has the Intel GMA 950 chipset while the Eee PC 900 has the Intel GMA 900. So it’s clear that Inspiron wins this side as well. Though I guess that it won’t be that BIG issue here.

The Eee PC’s main defense against the Inspiron Mini 9 is definitely the cheaper price, $399 vs $474. Not if you will buy Studio 15, XPS M1530 or XPS M1330 laptop through 6 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9 (U.S. only) because the Inspiron will then cost $99.

The Eee PC 900 is a bit lighter and smaller than Inspiron. Just a bit. In terms of other specs, such as the webcam, USB ports, screen sizes, etc… both netbooks almost are very similar.

Dell Inspiron Mini 9 coming in the Philippines in October

It’s been officially announced that the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 will be available in the Philippines this coming October. Prices are not yet disclosed but Yuga has given some hints that it will be retailed under Php 25,000 mark. This netbook sports the following specs:
