Very few have the trackpad to the left, like the Vaios. I have the same problem as you do when typing, that's why i most fo the time turn trackpad off when typing. As for the hot air, I've said in the review it gets pretty hot. Luckily I'm a righty and I could do OK with the vent on that left upper hand.
