Asus EEE PC 1015P – popular mate 10 inch netbook
The Asus EEE PC 1015P is a 10 inch mainstream netbooks and for sure one of the most popular ones on the market now. Part of the Seashell family, this one replaces the bestselling Asus 1005PE line and is almost identical to the Asus 1015PE line.
First of all, this 10 inch mini laptop no longer uses a glossy casing, but a matte one. A textured plastic is used for the upper casing and the entire area around the keyboard, way better when treating with fingerprints , smudges and scratches than the glossy plastic used before on the 1005PE series. The finish on this one is similar to what Asus uses on the 1001P EEE PCs, and if you don’t like it, there’s also the option of the 1005PE, with a soft rubberized exterior.

Trackpad and chiclet keyboard are improved on this device also. The touch-pad is in fact bigger and wider, plus it is now separated from the rest of the palm-rest area by two lines. Thus, using it will be more comfortable, although I’m not sure how will this textured (with tiny dimples) trackpad feel and how precise will it be in everyday use. Still, it’s for sure better than the old one. Click button is also bigger, but it’s a single-click one as before. A solution with two buttons would have been perhaps more comfortable.

Besides these, the Asus 1015P brings the same glossy display, but the webcam placed on top of it now comes with a convenient On/Off switch, so it won’t activate unless you want it too.
In terms of hardware and features, here’s what you’re going to find on this 10 inch laptop:
- Intel Atom N450/N470 processors (followed by N455/N475 later) + GMA 3150 graphics

Config is identical to the one on the Asus EEE PC 1015PE and is similar to what most other mainstream 10 inch netbooks have to offer. However, this one comes with battery life, better connectivity options and impeccable build quality. It’s important to have these in mind when looking for a netbook, as it’s more about a laptop than just the hardware specs.

Solid built quality
All in all, the Asus 1015PE EEE PC will be for sure a great laptop and next to its close relative, the 1015PE with soft matte finish, will for sure be one of the most appreciated mini laptops in the 10 inch class, if not the best of all.
For now, prices and availability haven’t been announced. But expect this netbooks to run fr around $350-$370 and start shipping from July.

Still sleek looking, as a Seashell should be
